Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training for Midtown KC

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live. CERT is a nationally recognized certification.
This free training by City of Kansas City staff of the Office of Emergency Management consists of 24 hours of instruction broken into 6 units including a final exercise.
The units cover topics such as:
- Personal Preparedness
- Home Safety
- Team Organization
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Disaster Psychology
- Fire Safety and Small Fire Suppression
- Light Search and Rescue
- Terrorism Awareness
This 6 session training will be held on Mondays, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, September 29 – November 3, 2025.
Most of the sessions will be held at Midtown KC Now, 3931 Main Street, KCMO, but some sessions will have to take place at OEM, 635 Woodland Ave, KCMO.
***Participants MUST attend all six sessions to complete training. Please do not request a spot unless you are able to attend all sessions.***
